ADRIAN SHAW
Hey you!
Yes you… the person who remembers (and to be honest, has never fully escaped) your pimply-faced, pissed-off 14-year-old self.
This release is for you.
Forget the history, which is, Ade (as he’s known in musical circles) is famous for his time in Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Atomic Rooster, and replacing Lemmy Kilmister in Hawkwind (appearing on their one album that featured a Hipgnosis cover). He was almost in T.Rex, but Marc Bolan up and died on him before it came to be. He left the biz to become a London bus driver and to raise his kid (your adult self has got to give him props) and has been appearing with Bevis Frond off and on for decades.
No, let’s talk about the music! It’s HEAVY, man… but a little psychedelic. A whole lot 10 Years After and you wouldn’t be remiss to hear a little Blue Oyster Cult in it either. Ade’s primary instrument has always been the bass, but he handles the guitar and other instruments. Did I mention he is an admirable singer?
The words set the tone, but when it comes down to it, it’s HEAVY, man… in the way that music hasn’t been for a while, the sounds (when you discovered it as that pimply-faced, pissed-off 14-year-old!) Adrian Shaw – A Dark Reflection.
